User Feedback
Collect what users were doing when something broke with captureFeedback, link it to the error they hit, and review it on the ErrTap User feedback page and issue pages.
User feedback is a short note from the person who hit a problem. ErrTap links it to the error they just saw, so the issue page shows what users said next to the stack trace.
Send feedback
captureFeedback is available in @errtap/browser, @errtap/node, @errtap/next and
@errtap/nestjs. Show your own form, then send what the user wrote:
import { captureException, captureFeedback } from '@errtap/browser';
try {
await checkout();
} catch (error) {
captureException(error);
openFeedbackForm(async ({ message, email }) => {
await captureFeedback({ message, email }); // linked to the error above
});
}| Field | Type | Description |
|---|---|---|
message | string | Required. What the user wrote, up to 5,000 characters |
name | string | Optional |
email | string | Optional |
url | string | The page they were on. Defaults to the current page in browsers |
eventId | string | The error to link to. Defaults to lastEventId(), the last error this SDK sent |
Sentry SDKs' captureFeedback works too. Without an SDK, POST to
/ingest/feedback.
Where it shows up
- Issue page: notes linked to that issue's events.
- User feedback page: every note in the project, with search, a 14-day volume chart, the issues people wrote about most, and the pages they wrote from.
Feedback doesn't count toward your event quota and is kept for your plan's retention window. If a note arrives before its error has been processed, it's linked once the error is stored.
